The Fellows Emeriti of the Pike Center are established scholars whose active participation in our programs has concluded but whose contributions continue to shape our community. We are grateful for the work they have done and the legacy they leave to rising scholars.

J Stephen Quakenbush
Steve is Spiritual Life Team Director at SIL International, following a long career in linguistics, language program leadership, and academic services. He earned a PhD in Linguistics from Georgetown University in 1986 and spent much of his career in the Philippines, where his roles included Linguist/Translator on the Agutaynen project, SIL Philippines Director, and SIL Asia Area Academic Coordinator. His main research contributions have been in the areas of Austronesian languages, sociolinguistics, language vitality, and language and human flourishing. See publications.
